  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Diesel "Unholy Cocktail" 5 X 56. Wrapper - Pennyslvania Broadleaf, Binder - Nicaragua, Filler - Jalapa, Condega, and Esteli. Made by Abdel "AJ" Fernandez. Full bodied.

Inital taste apon lighting was leather, wood and spice which quickly became a predominate spicey leather & wood flavor along with cinnamon.

When I got to the halfway point, I noticed the spiceiness picking up with the wood flavor - leather and cinammon was still present.

The last third of the cigar is where it got intersting - a sweetness emerged along with a creamy coffee flavor that became the dominate flavors. The leather taste was still noted but was more of a secondary flavor and the spice became more underlying than earlier in the cigar.

The finish of this cigar was also intersting in that it changed from the beginning to the end. The finish of the first half of the cigar was long with flavors of spice and leather. The second half was a long finish of a creamy sweet coffee flavor. Very enjoyable.

Construction, burn and draw was perfect. Nice light grey ash that held on for an inch and a half before falling off. Beautiful chocolate brown, oily wrapper. Very nice complexity and balance. I really enjoyed the change of flavor profile in the last third of the cigar - it really took me by surprise and made this experience even more interesting. MSRP on this vitola is $99.95 for a box of 30 ($3.33 per stick) which makes this cigar an excellent value. I highly recommend.

Nice review on a nice cigar!

I really like the Unholy Cocktail! That's one of the first cigars that I smoked and said out loud, "This is a GOOD cigar!" I've really backed off the Daily Deals lately, but I still check 'em in hopes of gettin another good deal on Diesels!

I couldn't agree more with your review.

It was a damn fine stick for the price. I think I paid $4 even for a single and enjoyed it thoroughly.

I found it to be medium to full-bodied (leaning towards medium) and heavy on the leather and earth notes. I'd certainly buy a box of 30 for $99.99.

I tried my first of two that I bought with a cool Diesel case. I really enjoyed it! It had hints of coffee and mocha throughout and burned wonderfully. It was cool and needed no re-light or touch-ups.

I'm with Larry on this one. not a bad cigar just not in my flavor profile. Putting that aside it was still a very nice review!
Another great budget cigar is the Casa Magna which I did enjoy.

The Shorty Ltd. Edition is available now at cigar dot com.

The Diesel is one of my favorite "used to be budget" sticks. The price point is inching higher and higher lately. Singles are $6 for the Unholy Cocktail Belicoso and $7 for the Shorty LE. Boxes are 30/99.95 and 24/99.95 respectively.
