I'm sorry I do not have any pics to go with this, but I just want to say that I GREATLY enjoyed this smoke.
Pre-light
I gave this cigar a lengthy inspection before I sparked it up. The wrapper is very leathery - it feels thick, oily, and has a beautiful texture to it.
The cigar itself is very heavy and densely packed, with no soft spots or veins.
It smells of sweet tobacco and a hint of cocoa.
A pre-light draw gives these flavours as well - sweet tobacco, subtle cocoa, and a core of earthiness.
First third
This lit up and burned like a dream to start. Razor-sharp burn line (which I have found to be quite rare for larger RG's) and firm, salt and pepper ash.
The flavours are rich and dark. The core of earth is quite prominent, as well as a rich spice and some nice, hearty tobacco flavours.
The smoke just billows. It's rich, thick to the point of chewiness, and it has an almost yellow-gold hue to it on the exhale.
Second third
The spice has eased off a bit and been replaced with hints of dark, rich coffee. Reminds me of the Spanish coffee blends I drink here in NYC.
Hints of cocoa dart in and out.
Still burning like nobody's business.
Final third
I rarely nub cigars because the hot smoke isn't to my liking, but I smoked this one down right to the end. I just enjoyed the flavour profile so much.
It doesn't seem like these are held in particularly high regard around here - not that they're seen as "bad", but more of a "they're OK for the price".
Well, I'd buy a box of these.
And while I'm here, can I ask how these compare to the Diesel Unlimited? Is one better than the other?
