  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Does This Sound Legit?

Say you were gonna make a CC purchase from a dealer you were told was good but they request you have them open the box to add extra protection because they hold no responsability if cigars in a sealed box are damaged in transit. Has anybody else heard of this. This would make me cautious and worrie about getting fakes however they are supposed to be a reputable dealer. Is there truth to this packing method and are CC brands somewhat loose in there packaging? Inquiring minds want to know!

yeah this happens. A lot of dealers will inspect cigars before they send them to you. I have gotten unsealed boxes before.

Never been a problem for me. I have received many opened boxes.... some US retailers are doing it now as well.. I have gotten Padron anni boxes with "opened for inspection" stickers on them...
the cigars were always legit.

It's called customer service. No reputable cigar shop wants to send out damaged cigars. That's why they extend that service to their customer. Have no fear

I have received a box or two that had a thin piece of bubble wrap on top of the cigars to keep them snug during their over seas voyage.

I saw a pic on Twitter the other day where someone had an "Opened for Inspection" tag and some shrink wrap around a box of cigars. I like the idea but I gotta admit, I really enjoy cutting that seal and cracking that box open for the first time. It's always better when you're the first one. :headroll:

many of my preferred venders do this practice...I admit that opening a box yourself is more fun but long voyages sometimes require such anti-fun preparations. This action is usually seen on cabinet boxes only. If your vender is doing this to every box there might be some concern.

I always want my cigars inspected before shipped. Nothing worse than cracking open a box of moldy cigars. Also, cigars in cabs can get banged around during shipping. A little bubble wrap will save you from cigars with cracked feet or heads.

Absolutely. Additionally, a good vendor that you have developed a relationship with will try to help with other requests, like finding a certain wrapper type etc. It all comes down to do you trust your vendor. If you do, nothing to worry about.

Got to agree, that is great customer relation. Shows respect for the customer and the quality of cigar they are too receive. Just the same as when one purchases a box at a local B&M. I have had that happen many times on shipments.
