  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I only just recieved this Cigar a week ago in a surprise sampler from Sascha "WhiteWolfIndulgence" http://www.botl.org/community/forums/showthread.php?t=51238
but I figured a week in the Humi and it would be ready to go. Up till this point I have never heard of this brand nor seen these cigars. The body felt smooth almost silky and it has wieght to it, so you know it's packed well. The cigar is easy to look at and the band is pretty classy.

As I run my nose up and down the cigar to the foot I pick up a heavy scent of sweetness from the leaf. I cut the head and seer the foot, taking in the first scent of the tabacco burning, then torch it. Right of the bat the draw was incredibly tight but I thought I'll give it a awhile and see if it loosens up a bit. Taking the drags that I could, right from the start the cigar, a very strong flavor of sweet tobacco surrounds the pallet. I didn't pick up any harshness or spice, just sweet tobacco.

Getting into and through the first third of this cigar was alot of work as the draw was just to tight to enjoy. I cliped the head a couple times thinking it would help but it seemed it was just how the cigar was rolled. Still, through the first third, I really didn't pick up any other flavor. It remained very sweet with creamy tobacco flavor. At around the end of the third of the cigar it went out and so I had to re-lite it and correct the burn as well. I'm thinking this must have to do with the draw and not so much the tobacco.
Getting into the second third and to the nub still took alot of effort with the draw. I think to myself, Sascha sent me two of these so I'll dry box the other before I smoke that one and see if it helps. The rest of the cigar was really the same on flavor as the first third. Just lots of sweet tobacco and reminded me alot of the "Triple Maduro" Camacho sells. There were a few more times as well I needed to relight and touch up but again I really think that's because of the draw issues.
I would classify this cigar as Medium in stength and full on flavor. As much as I love Maduro I found this cigar to be a little too sweet for me. It's supposed to be filled with "Ligero" but I couldn't taste it at all...just loads of sweet creamy tobacco.
All in all, it's a very nice looking cigar and I really wish the draw had not been so tight. It's a very smooth and rich cigar and I'm glad I have another one to dry box and give another shot. I can't say it's in my flavor profile but I can't say it isn't either. I guess you could put this cigar in with the other dessert cigars you save for a "Once in awhile smoke".
Would I recommend this cigar, Hmmmm.
If you like the the taste of Sweet Tobacco or even Camacho Triple Mady's, you'll like this one as well.
Thank you Sacha again for giving me the opportunity to try this cigar. Next week I'll give the Gold Churchill a go. Sorry for not having my usuall pics on this but the files got currupted some how.
Thanks for your time!

Thanks for the review Tom . I will say that cigar looks great. Love me some maduro so I'd give it a go. My experience with cigars containing lots of maduro has been limited to the CAO MX2, but I found they have some burn issues too (tight draw, does out pretty easily). Some have said that they really benefit from dry boxing, this may be the case here too :dunno:.

Nice review! Seems spot on as we in Hawaii got some samples from our local cigar guru mc808. These are handsome cigars that have that "full-flavor" but not "strong". I also agree that these cigars have a tighter draw than I prefer but didn't need to re-light or touch up. Thanks again for the review!
