  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Specs:

Origin: Nicaragua
Wrapper: Nicaraguan Corojo
Size: 5x50
Shape: Parejo
Color: Dark Brown
Purchase price: $7.00

Scent: Brownies, Earthy, chocolate pudding mix

Construction: large triple cap, toothy, veiny, firm pack, no noticeable stems in the foot, a couple small stems (i.e. large veins) noticeable at the cut, entubado method is apparent.

Light: potting soil, cocoa, smooth texture, mild to medium body, earthy and short finish, good smoke off the foot and nice resistant draw (not too loose), dark chocolate aroma off the foot

Foot: mild body, cool, spiced orange peel, subtle coffee, cocoa, short finish, straight and bright white ash

Body: mild body, cool, apple wood smoke, subtle orange peel, short coffee finish, leaves the mouth dry

Head: becoming a medium body, warm-hot smoke, soapy flavor similar to Murphy's Wood Oil Soap, wood flavors, dry cocoa, parched tongue (I need a glass or water), mild-medium strength (i.e. Not making me buzz)

Burn Time: 1 hour

Conclusion: This is a pretty mild to medium body cigar with a very pleasant dark chocolate aroma that holds consistent cocoa and coffee flavors. Don't come looking for spice from this cigar. The head presents a little unpleasant soapy flavor that gets in the way of the more pleasing flavors so I wouldn't recommend smoking it to the nub. Good construction, good burn and smoke output, good aromas, not very complex nor does it have many flavor shifts making it a little boring.

Score: 89/100
