  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I dont. I bought one and didn't like it. Nothing against Dr gradow pipes, i know they have a following. But for 30 bucks I didn't care for it. A few dollars more and u can get a much better pipe. Just my 2 cents. Maybe i just bought the wrong one.

I agree with Dave. I bought one as my first ever pipe (Duke model) & it barely ever gets used now. The stem doesn't fit properly, it gurgles, I never get a cool/dry smoke out of it, etc. $20-$30 more gets you a much better pipe, IMO.

have too many good grabows to agree with you boys, but my youngest is fifteen years old, so there is that. that said, for the same money, you can get as much or substantially more pipe.

if you find older DrG's on the bay, might be worth it. my current fave for amazing for the price is alexander zavvos (ebay again).

Here is another one.

I just got one similar to this. Apparently Savinelli Bought out Rossi. The one i got is identical to my Savinelli 320s (im a huge sav 320 fan or ho or whatever) but a whole lot lighter. It smokes FANTASTIC ! I will be looking for more of these.

Not sure if you were looking for samples or just wanted advice on Dr Grabows but I thought I would show you a couple of examples of what i feel are nice pipes for reasonable prices and not really much more than a Dr Grabow.

EDIT: Here is the one i got

I have a few older Dr. Graybows that I inherited or bought. I think the price for the last one I bought was under 20. Now with the price increase like others have said I'd look at some other line. Other lines to look at are Eriksen by Karl Erik, Kriswell by Nording, Viking and La Rocca. I have one of each on and all are good smokers and they all cost under $50

The term..."You get what you pay for" is just as much a part of pipes as it is with anything else. There are just too many other pipes out there that will give you the satisfaction and ease of use at a price point a few dollars more than a Dr. Grabow. Yes, there are Grabow pipes that are decent but in the long run and should you choose to keep after this hobby for years then buy something that will be there years from today. I bought a Grabow a year ago and the thing of it is .....you have to work with the pipe to get a good experience and I am tired of having to fight with this gurgling hot POS when I use it so I bought a good Savinelli Rustic and on the very first bowl...it smoked like something I've had and broken in for years...that's the different a good pipe makes. Spend the extra $30 bucks and enjoy the satisfaction of having an experience you want instead of trying to keep a cheaper version relevant.
