6.5 inches by 42 ring gauge
Rolled on Jan. 31 2014
Smoked March 18 (1.5 months fresh)
Wrapper: CT Broadleaf
Binder: Habano Honduras Criollo
Filler: 1/2 leaf-Viso ASP Esteli; 1/2 leaf-Ligero ASP Esteli; 1 leaf-Viso Brazil Mata Fina; 1 leaf-Seco Condega
Smoke time 1hr 40mins
Paired with water
Palio cutter
Wrapper had specs, sparkling all over it. The only other cigar I've seen this on is Tatuaje's Resrevas (don't remember seeing this when first received)
Thick and leathery with prominent veins, rustic looking like no cigar mold was used--but I can't confirm this.
Pre light: Deep Rich Cocoa and Dark Barnyard Fresh Tobacco
Pre light draw: Semi tight
1/3: Strong rich flavors of deep earth and sweet raisins and cocoa.
Broadleaf sweetness. Retro hale is intense and bold--not for the faint hearted
2/3: Sweetness is picking up: Dark cherries and cacao with a hardwood backbone
Definitely has that Ligaesque profile and is slightly similar to an L-40 on 'roids
The resting smoke has ammonia present. This is noticeably very fresh especially in the after taste--reminds me of the tobacco pylons fermenting in the factory--not overwhelming but there.
Final 3rd: Deep wet earth, heavy wet tobacco, Ligero bomb fo sho
Burn was great with no relights or touch ups and the draw was perfect with a slight resistance. Smoke out put was not the Liga standard but was copious.
I'm very pleased with the fresh result and am stoked with the flavor profile, as I was looking for an L-40 type flavor with more oomph!
This should mellow and tone down nicely with some rest, and I'll try to hold off smoking my next one till Sept-ish.
Score 89/100
