I smoked one of these on Monday night, after receiving from a contest win on Dog Watch Social CLub. It was part of a sampler.
E. ZARZUELA PREMIUM TORO FUERTE Size: 5 x 50
E. Zarzuela Cigars are a boutique brand based in Miami and manufactured in the D.R. This is another prime example of why so many experienced cigar smokers search out boutique brands. The quality and consistency of E. Zarzuela cigars is unmatched by the big name brands.
The Premium Line features a dark, Nicaraguan Habano wrapper, Piloto Cubano binder and filler of Nicaraguan Ligero / Piloto Cubano tobaccos. These are full-bodied, smooth smokes with a leathery character. This is what the manufaturer/retailer said about the cigar.
My review is as follows.
Pre light inspection showed some veins and a slightly rough wrapper. Hints of spice, pepper and some nuts come through. Wrapper was well made and had a nice draw upon cutting. Slight oil on the wrapper. It lit well and continued with the nice draw. First few puffs continued to show pepper, leather and hints of nuts and coffee.
Good burn on this cigar with slight uneven. Ash was good, infact held together well during the first half of the cigar.
Draw and burned continued well into this cigar. Spice continued, but a sweet taste began coming through, a black licorice and toffee, with coffee untertones. There was no harsh after taste and the full flavor continued to shine.
This cigar had a nice finish. Burned well and tasted good. I would smoke another one of these again no problem. On a scale of 1-10, I give this one a 7. Not a full bodied cigar, but medium with good flavor. For a $4.70 cigar, it was a better smoke than I expected. Another boutigue cigar that shocked me.
