Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.
The new El Triunfador is for the European market ... so the ones you saw are the "old" ones. My hope is that if Pete releases the new blend in the US, he'll still keep these lanceros somehow (maybe reband them as the Cabaiguan Maduro Lancero).I went to my B&M today and they had another box of the El Triunfador lancero's. The owner came to me and said that they were the second release and it appears that they have corrected some of the draw issues that were associated with the original release.
Apparently Pete is releasing some different sizes of the El Triunfador, but they aren't the same blend as the original. I am not sure if the new batch of lanceros I saw today are the new or old blend. I'm led to believe that they are the old blend, but I won't know until I fire one up.
agreed, that is some good stuff for the moneyI like Appleton Estate! Real nice rum at a great price.
This cigar went through a helluva lot of transformations during the 13 or 14 months since I purchased them. Initially I thought it had much more of a typical Maduro characteristic while about 6 months ago really turning into a sweet & savory treat. I got a lot of caramel & Dr.Pepper type of sweetness early summer. More recently it is turning into a more typical Nicaraguan puro, demonstrating woody spicy flavors that are much more savory in nature. All of mine have been perfectly constructed.
I will also add that I purchased the Cabaguan Maduro's I've had because I was told that they were the same base blend as these El Triun's. I don't necessarily think that's the case unless the Seco in the thicker RG Cabs tends to dull down the sweetness found in the Triunfidors when young (few months). JMHO
