  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Cigar: El Triunfador Lancero (7.5 x 38)

Cost: I can't remember. I bought the box last month.

Drink: Coca-Cola (the best cola)

Appearance: This has a dark and toothy Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper on it. There were a couple veins showing. I really like the simple look of the cigar. The appearance gets a 10/10 .

Taste of the cigar: The first half was tastes of cocoa and some woodsy flavors. The second half is what I really enjoyed. I picked up cocoa, chocolate, nutty flavors, and a little bit of vanilla. There were also a couple spots where it reminded me of a Habana.

Construction: Held an average ash for a lancero. The draw was just a touch on the tight side, but I didn't mind at all. The cigar required only a few small touchups.

Strength: This was a medium bodied cigar.

Summary: This cigar was very, very good. Pete Johnson/Don Pepin Garcia have another winner on their hands. I am glad I picked up a box. I give it a 9/10.

Are these in regular production, or is this one of the "get it before it's gone" Pete sticks?
think it was originally just to make some to keep pete's hold on the name. but i'm thinking he is gonna continue it, with maybe a different size? hasn't someone else heard something about this?

Pete has mentioned in interviews that the El Triunfador that is currently available is a Cabaiguan maduro in the lancero vitola (not available in the cabaiguan maduro lineup normally). He has also said that when this line is expanded, it will be for the international market but it will be a different cigar, different packaging, and IIRC it will use criollo tobacco. I assume (but am not 100% sure) that the existing El Triunfador will be discontinued at that point.

I'll need to get them to send us some samples to the club. We need to place a tatuaje order this week anyway. I might get some for our store.

Like that Xikar. Traded the triple flame Trezo in for thathe Elemnent (but in black to go with the carbon fiber Xi3). Like it better than the one twice it's price. But it is Xikar. Can't go wrong either way.

Since this El Truinfador is so good, I'd expect that when Pete does put up a full line for this label, that he'll simply introduce a Cabaiguan Maduro Lancero.
