More cuba news

Cuba seems to be popping up in the news quite a bit lately. Not much of anything really new in the above article, but hopefully the increased attention is a good thing.

Will they be paying in Cuban Pesos since Cuba no longer takes the USD?

I think it's a personal grudge between the Cuban in Florida (Republicans need their votes) and Castro (who hasn't fell after 40 years of the same embargo).

Cuba still accepts the USD - just there is an 11% premium on it. Everything is in CUC (convertable pesos).

When and if Cuba is opened up to the US market will americans buy at the expense of the brands they now buy. It would seem a shame if it did as you've got such a variety of choice now. I hope they are just an added choice rather than decreasing sales of DR, Honduran etc cigars. As a UK citizen I can buy all cigars and still enjoy trying differnet brands. I wondered if in the US it's more because you can't get them so readily you want them, or do you think they will be seen as far superior to brands now availble and it will affect sales of other countries cigars?
