  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Ok, ok, I realize there are threads about this on like very board in existence. I admit that I have always been like WTF, how in the heck do you exhale through your nose when you haven't inhaled the smoke. :dunno:

And most of all how in the world could this improve the taste!?

Well, today on the way to work, I was smoking an '01 Rafael Gonzalez PC and I was able to successfully get some of the smoke to exit through my nose.

Wow, what a difference! If you can manage to control the amount of smoke going out that way it is quite the experience. Totally changed what I was tasting/detecting in the cigar. It was actually enjoyable and increased my enjoyment of the cigar.

Ya, you push it from your mouth up into you nose....its fun, did you find that it burned your sinus at all? Half of the fun of smoking a cigar is playing with the smoke...

Nope, not at all. I thought it would but I held in in my mouth for awhile so it cooled down...I agree, messing with the smoke is part of the fun.

It took me quite a while to master this technique without it feeling like it was tearing up the inside of my nostrils. But now it's just part of smoking. I only do it on occasion, but i know some folks say they do this on every exhale.

I don't know, I think it really might have something to do with the technique as well. Because for me, it was an "all of the sudden I can do this" thing. I probably hadn't tried in a couple weeks and went to do it and hey, I could do it.

The trick to not killing your nose is waiting until the thickest smoke of the exhale is already gone, and/or just pushing out a little smoke at a time. Works like a charm and, as Wasch points out, it radically changes the impression you get of the cigar.

oh, so its just a sort of "at the end" thing....I never thought of that, i usually push the heavy smoke out, or try to, in spurts...

I have been doing this for a while and really notice the increase in taste when exhaling through my nose. Like mad dog said...I usually blow out the thickest smoke from my mouth first, then the rest throgh the nose. If you get too much thick smoke out the nose it can sting a little.

Ok, so our assignment for the day is to master this technique so that where ever we are we will know a fellow BOTLer by the way he smokes his cigar...

Some people laugh at me when I asked this in another board. It took a lot of practice for me.I think I went through 10 Padron fumas LOL, and still I can only get a little smoke out the nose but enough to change the experience. I think my deviated septum has something to do with it. I only do it about two to three times with a stogie and the perception, like stated before, really changes.

Ya, but that smoke comes from the lungs and it's easier,,this is from mouth through the back of the throat to the nose, it's a long way from there to here...Not to mentino the smoke is much more acrid...U should see the book I have about making smoke rings..the guy who was THE expert could blow a smoke ring, suck it back up through his nose and blow the smoke back out as another ring from his mouth..how's that for talent!

....that would be because that site is retarded.....

I seem to do this by accident with milder cigars. really does inhance the flavour.
