Fausto Robusto Extra (5.5x52)
Giving the classy band a classy shot.
The Fausto is a beautifully rolled cigar: firm, with the right amount of give when squeezed. A smooth, silky, slightly oily and dark brown wrapper finishes the presentation.
The pre-light gives a nice spice through the nose.
The first few puffs are all pepper and spice. It settles down with the spice remaining in the background and flavors of earth and leather emerge. Add some sweet tobacco and we're off to a great start.
The sweet earth and leather is always present, coating the mouth and leaving a long finish of delicious flavors.
Into the second third, the pepper has completely faded and there's a minute amount of spice that still lingers in the smoke. It's heavy on earthy-notes at this point, while still remaining sweet. The burn has been superb, it has never required even the slightest touch up. The draw is spot on in my book, just a tiny tug and it booms out huge clouds of smoke.
Into the final third the Fausto doesn't change much from the second third. It still has that sweet leather and earth flavor, without any spice or pepper.
The Fausto is a good cigar, but I feel it pales in comparison to the original T110. If I recall, the T110 is full of pepper and strength. The Fausto on the other hand, seems to lack that wonderful pepper flavor (except in the first third) and its strength is more subdued.
While I'll take the original over this blend anyday, it will still be a great cigar to smoke after a big meal. It will definitely find a spot in my humidor.
