  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Just fell back in love with imperial stouts after drinking an Oscar Blues Ten Fidy (with one year on it) this past weekend. Hands down the best imperial stout I have ever tried...and it comes in a can! I'm thinking about splitting a case of the Ten Fidy and possibly another of something else with one of my friends to drink and TRY to age...

What are some of your favorites and what ages well?

Ten Fidy is a favorite of mine also.

Some other GREAT regular release imperial stouts for me are:
Founders Breakfast Stout
Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout (Recently tried this and it is worth the search)
DFH World Wide Stout
Alesmith Speedway Stout
Terrapin Wake N Bake
Chocolate Yeti

I think I could keep going.... I love me some good stouts!

Weyerbacher Tiny is also a really good Imperial Stout, especially since it is local for you and localish for me.

ooh man...getting thirsty ;)

was thinking of a few of those, also anyone try the Founders Imperial Stout or Bell's Expedition Imp. Stout? I like the more smooth, creamy stouts where you can't even tell it's high abv.

and TRY to age....
Wouldn't bother- aging in a can probably won't do anything besides muting the flavors. I highly doubt Ten Fidy is "can conditioned"

I say just drink'em! :D:D

-Clipper City Peg Leg imp. stout is awesome

that atually exists? o)

stone russian imperial, it eats light!

EDIT: there was a little facetiousness there. AFAIK, dark lord is one of the big HTF in the brew scene. knew there were some good brothers getting stirred up over dark lord day, trying to secure a stash.

Picked up a case of Oscar Blues Ten Fidy, Weyerbacher Old Heathen, and Butternuts Moo Thunder! :) Gotta love Shangy's!!

I hope butternuts Moo Thunder is good because the other beers I had of theirs are not anything I want to taste again. Others might like them but not me, not one bit.

Did one of these threads a while back & am sure many here are the same as they were over a year or more ago...

Deschutes Abyss and Founders KBS & Imperial Stout I suspect will still be duking it out for the top spot in this category come this winter.

The only one I've had so far this fall is Dogfish Head Bitches Brew. Don't get the love for this one. Two years ago it tasted like skoal mint chew and thought I might've gotten a bad bottle. Turns out I didn't. Same exact herbal sour tobacco thing. Just not for me at all.
