  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

While returning from a business trip yesterday afternoon, I decided to take the scenic route through the Pocono mountains in Pennsylvania. About halfway through my journey, while driving east on Route 22, I saw a sign that read something about the "world's largest cigar store next exit". A blur at 70 mph. So I decided to take a break and pull off to check it out.

1/4 mile from the exit of Rt 22 at Rt 191 in Bethlehem PA is the Cigars International Super Store. These are the folks that own the website of the same name, CBid.com, and Cigar.com (perhaps more).

I parked in the very large lot and strolled inside to see this:

http://www.cigarsinternational.com/html/store.asp#ss

The photos don't do it justice. The shop is rectangular and at least 5,000 square feet with a cathedral ceiling, much like an giant barn, but instead of animals and dung it was filled with every cigar lovers dream - great cigars!

As soon as I entered, I was met by a very knowledgeable clerk.

My first question was: "where's the humidor?"

His response: "you're in it!"

The entire shop is a 5,000 sq/ft humidor loaded with all the great cigars from CBid and free gourmet coffee. I was in heaven. The clerk offered me a shopping basket and told me about the instore specials.

I spent about 2 1/2 hrs in the store and bought $50 worth of cigars. I was definitely impressed and a bit blown away with the selection. I was the proverbial kid in a candy store.

On my next jaunt up to NYC, I will certainly be taking the scenic route home again.

Very nice, if you're local to that area we should meet up there some time. I'm in Limerick, but Cigars Int'l is only an hour or 2 away (I think)

We can meet up locally. I frequent Cigar Cigars, a B&M in Phoenixville, quite a bit.

I have been in their outlet store in Bethlehem but have not been back since they built the super store. These people are so nice to deal with and the prices were awesome. Plus, you read all that stuff in their catalog and think, that sounds great but do I really want a box. AT the stores you can try singles.!!!

The sweet part of the singles is it's buy 5 get your 6th FREE! With the free coffee, comfy lounge, and free wifi, you could easily make a day of it.

At least for the memorial day weekend. I promised my 82 year old Aunt the wife and I would come visit. I have the week and we are trying to decide whether to spend a week on the east coast.

We will be visiting the in-laws in NY this summer and driving to DC, MD, VA, NJ and NC, what is one little stop in PA going to do to throw off the schedule? Hmmmm.
