  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Seriously? You post this thread at 4:46PM? Now all I can think about is getting off work and heading straight to Wine Vault to see what I can find on this list!

Thank you for my future shopping list. I have heard of a lot of these but only have had the privilege of having a couple. Any recommendations on what ones I should pick up first? There is a store local called 99 bottles that has over 1000 brews so im sure they will have a great deal of these.

Ugh, no luck scoring the DFH 120. I had heard the Wine Vault in my area had it. Still got 6 worthy beers though!

What about Parabola or BCS Rare? I could probably think of some others that could beat some on that list...IMO.

I think some of the stuff is on the list because it's like Opus in the cigar world. Some of those beers are my favorites that are not a brew for most beer drinkers.

I'm drinking a Fantome Hiver right now actually.

I've only had about 6 on the list :angeryell But hell, some of those beers are pretty much "white whales" to those not connected enough to buy them.

I've only had but 15 from this list, so it appears I've got some work to do. Many of the ones I tried wouldn't even make my own top 50 (i.e. Alaskan Smoked Porter, Stone Self Righteous, and Bells Two Hearted ... Although Bells overlooked Hopslam offering certainly would).

There's gonna be tons of amazing beers that got overlooked, but like cigars, thats one of the awesome things about craft brews...there's more than enough to go around, and something for everyone. Of course like was said above, it would be nice if some of the best weren't so damn hard to find.

I'm willing to trade or Buy the Alaskan Smoked Porter. I've heard it's good and I have not had one.
We have the Alaskan Smoked Porter currently on tap
Last year during Sacramento Beer Fest we featured Alaskan Brewing Company and they brought '09, '08, and one bottle of '06 Smoked Porter. Because of the smoke and high alcohol, this beer ages well, just like cigars!

We've also featured about 10 brews from the list. Some others that we've had on tap but aren't on the list that are absolutely noteworthy:

Harviestoun Ola Dubh Special Reserve 30

Schneider Aventinus

Schneider Aventinus Eisbock Freeze Aventinus, scrape off the ice from the top, re-bottle the concentrate...OMG!

Allaghash Curieux

If you ever happen to be in the Sacramento Region, come on by as we feature some GREAT brews to pair with your favorite smokes. :waving:

This was my passion before I found the wonderful world of cigars! Now my obsession with cigars has taken over! I guess I need to find a happy medium of buying fine brews and fine smokes!

I'm fairly new to the beer world but it's quickly pulling me in. I've found that it's a LOT easier to enjoy because I can just pour a brew and enjoy it on the couch while I watch ESPN after work. Lighting up a cigar is a bit more of a process plus I have to walk outside to the pool deck which doesn't have direct access to my apartment :disappoin I already made it a point to get a patio at our next place. Then I can enjoy both!

Larry- Honestly how many of these have you sampled? I consider you my beer expert.
Adam, thanks for the compliment but I'm far from being an expert when it comes to good "Craft Beer."

I've only tried eight (8) of the beers on "that" list.

You should know that within an 1 1/2 hour drive from my home I have 55 microbreweries available to me here in North Carolina. So you could say I'm pretty happy with the options available to me. Regrettably, no NC Beers are on that list but I'm definately not missing out on some damn fine Craft Beers!

I agree with Jere, there are alot of great craft beers that are not on that list!

In the last two years cigars are no longer the only "slippery slope" I have gone down. Yes, Craft Beer has become a passion for me too!
