First Humidor

Hey guys I am in the process of setting up my first humidor that I got for Christmas. It is a 100 ct Man O War. I have been seasoning it with the Boveda seasoning 84% kit. I have had them in the humidor for 1 week today. It is registering 72% right now. Is it ready to take those seasoning packets out and start filling and using or should I let it season longer. The kit says to wait 10 days but a friend of mine said I didn't need to wait that long he was thinking 5-6 days. Any help would be much appreciated.

Ha I actually just picked up this humidor as my second humi. Just finished seasoning it mysel. Imo no you do not need to wait 10 days. 5 to 6 would be just fine. I did mine diff and used distilled water to rub it down and let it set then repeated as needed. Then I added the humidification and let it even out at@ desired humidification then started adding the wonderful sticks. Hopes this helps

I would put the humidification system in there that you plan on sticking with, like beads or the humi packs. That way your cigars will be placed in a stable RH level.

For an example, if you plan on keeping them at 65%, put in your 65% beads or pack for a week in the empty humidor to bring the humidity down to that level, instead of bringing your cigars along for the RH ride

It should be ready although I always give my humi's 2 weeks to season and 1 week when/if i re-season. It really depends on the environment your in. if your in a humid spot fill er up if the air is a bit dryer you want to make sure that wood abosorbs much as it can, save you a lot of hassle down the road.

I like my humidors at 65%. If you want yours at 72 like you have it, then that's good enough. Go for it.

No I want my humidor at 65% so I just need to let it drop. When I put the humidification puck and the cigars in the humidor will it regulate itself?

dont be impatient. keep those bovedas in there and let them do thier job.

You are probably right Ron I should listen to the Boveda website, they probably know what they are talking about.
