  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Let us not forget about the lifetime warranty! Mine is dulling and I'm sending it out :ccool:
Before you send it back, have you tried cleaning the cutting edges with a Q-tip dipped in alcohol? If not, try that. The blades are probably just slightly gunked up with oils etc. from cigars, not dull.

BTW, Palio is definitely the best cutter out there.

I need to send my Xikar in because the wood on the handles is coming off. I think I will go out and buy a Palio so that I am not out of a great cutter while my other cut is out for service.

Those Xikars with the fancy handles sure do look cool, but they want a pretty penny for em. Thank goodness they have a no questions asked exchange policy, cause everyone I know that has a Xikar has had to use the warantee sooner or later. I have bothe the Xikar and the Palio, and the Xikar only gets used when I can't find my Palio.

I just received mine today and wasn't impressed with the fit and finish. It had loose "flash" from excess plastic, including inside the slide areas and even around the blade edges. Some flash had been trimmed off the outside of the Palio, but left careless scrape marks from the trimming. Visually, it is ugly and sloppy.

Ive only owned 2 Zino Davidoff guillotines and they were perfectly clean out of the box.

I know it will cut cigars well, but the "out of box" experience has been spoiled when compared to previous experiences.

Are my expectations set too high? -Or am I just whining?

My Xikar is now my backup cutter. I got my first Palio about a month ago.

both great cutters, but the cut from the Palio slightly edges out over the Xikar.
