fishing tackle box

Looking for a new tackle box, need help. Currently use a bag system w 4-5 plastic boxes. Not totally digging the system I have, anybody here have any good reccomendations? I use it on a bass boat for lake fishing.

Hard lures mostly, lots. Enough that I fill about 4-5 plastic plano trays.

I use a similar set up to the one you have.
I dont totally dig it, but it works.
I only fish so often now, so I have no reason to upgrade until the kiddos get a little older.

But the link dan sent looks good. I think my trays would fit right in there.

I think i wanna get away from the plastic boxes system. tired of my lures catching each other. I need something that nholds one indivdual lure. I "probably" have "around" 20 lures each of spinner baits, stick lures, jerk baits, buzz/topwater baits, crankbaits yadaa yadda yadda. I have alot. so im cramming so many in to these stowaway trays and by mid day theyre all stuck together. especially the jerk baits.

No, a buddy has one like it only I don't think it holds that many boxes. He likes it. If you're filling up 4-5 boxes now you could spread what you got out more...until you buy more :laugh:. I'm not sure about the boxes that come with it, but some of the Plano boxes can be sectioned off small enough so you can put individual lures in a compartment and they don't tangle.

Unless I'm with someone that has a boat all my fishing is by foot. Hence I like to pack light. Half the time I'm using a fly rod, the other half an ultra light spinning set up. I have a hip pack (my wife calls it a fanny pack) that carries a couple water bottles and I can fit a couple of small Plano boxes in along with a couple zip lock bags stuffed with whatever. I also have a long sleeve shirt with several pockets that I can pack some stuff in.

I feel you, i don't fish much but took me a long time to decide on a system. I went with plastic box system was easier for me just to grab the stuff i needed for the specific type/area i was fishing. One suggestion is search craigslist and garage sales best way to get gear without breaking the bank.

have you tried the traditional tackle boxes? If so what didn't you like about them.

When I was looking for a 1 box solution this was what i was going to grab but utimately decided against it, didn't want to lug a big box around when i when fishing on the rocks.

I have a tackle bag with 4 inserts. They have a bunch of adjustable dividers so you can group certain lures together or have some in individual spots. I got the thing at Walmart maybe 8 or so years ago and it's been the best thing in the world.

I can't find it online but I'll look up the model when I get home. I know it didn't cost much because I bought it when I was in high school.

I Used the bag for many years and agree they can be cumbersome and a pain to get into on a dime. I did buy one that looks similar to what Dan posted and like it alot. The trade off is the bag is easier to cary with the shoulder strap but the box is less fuss.
Funny thing is I still use both with the bag being my river tackle and the box being my lake tackle.

I carry a bag as well. I just find it more convenient for the pond hopping that I do. However I got tired of some of my stuff getting stuck together so I bought a couple of these little book divider carrier things. I do not really know what to call them, but they are like old cd cases. They have around 10-15 plastic slots that I put a couple lizards and worms and lures in. They are fast and simple, you just flip through them like a cd case, and when you get to what you want it comes out fast. Best of all it fits in the side pouch of my bag so its convenient to grab by itself and go if you want.

Plano offers trays that you can "customize" to fit the size of individual lures. I like using trays because I can pack my shimano bristol bay bag with what ever trays i think I'm going to need that day and leave the rest at home.

Saw these at Home Depot yesterday for under $20 and thought it would be perfect for tackle.
