I have been buying and smoking these over the last few months, and really enjoy them. I've burned about a dozen of them, purchased on three different occasions for $9-11 per 5 pack. I haven't seen a review on these, so here you go...
This is what the devil site says about these cigars:
"This blend, not to be confused with regular Fonseca, Series F, or Vegas de Fonseca, the Vintage Fonseca is a super-premium cigar blended to be more full and robust in flavor and extensively aged to perfection for roundness. Fonseca Vintage is superbly made and well-balanced. Made in the Dominican Republic with silky smooth Connecticut shade wrappers and aged Cuban seed filler."
I have never smoked any other Fonsecas, so I can't compare them. The devil says these are "more full and robust in flavor", but I would classify these as mild cigars, maybe a 3 on a scale of 1-10 in strength.
These are well constructed cigars, with a tan, smooth, slightly oily wrapper. They're firm to the touch, well filled, but have an easy draw. They tend to burn slightly uneven - more of a jagged burn line - but not to the extent that I would correct in any manner. This cigar produces lots of rich thick smoke.
They have a very subtle milk chocolate taste, but not like sweet American milk chocolate bars, more like the less sweet European milk chocolate. These are not complex cigars. The flavor is consistent most of the way down. The finish leaves a nice light aftertaste that lingers for hours, which reminds me of marshmallow.
If I had to compare them to something, I would say this Fonseca reminds me most of the flavor profile of a Dominican Montecristo #2, except the Fonseca is slightly milder and more consistent, and about one quarter the price.
The taste and the consistency attract me equally. Cigar smoking seems to get complicated sometimes...
How long as this cigar been aging?
Dammit, another $14 stick with great reviews that was a disappointment...
This thing is going to kick my ass, so I better eat something...
I can grab one of these, make a cappuccino, sit outside and just enjoy the way the damn thing tastes. I love it.
