  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

For the love of a cigar or the thought of a cigar

So hi guys, I’m a newly enrolled member but I have been reading in this forum for years prior to signing up.
So, wanted to just pass along my ridiculous thoughts on cigars etc.
I started smoking cigars around 1996, I walked into a small shop in PA, and a new cigar was released recently there. It was opusx, yes, the magical possibly overrated stogi. I bought a few, smoked a few, bought some more, smoke some more and my collection was getting large. Anyway, I started smoking casually again but mostly collecting cigars. Something about that label, and the taste reminds me of my youth. 20 something years later I’m collecting cigars again. Now, am I the only dummy who buys expensive cigars because it reminds one of the good ole days? Am I the only one to see a cigar I like, buy it, throw it in my humidor with the possibility of not touching it ever?
The smell of a non lit cigar might be more enticing than a lit one, odd, I know. But anyhoo, I’m back in the game, searching for my old friends Opusx etc, and it’s expensive too, but I’m wondering if I’m the only one who might be more into the collecting anymore than the actual smoking of the cigar itself
Sorry to blab, just wanted to give more detail on myself as a newbie here.......
Thanks for listening
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

They are all fair game to be burned to me. I do have a little difficulty burning more expensive smokes. I guess I struggle finding the special moment to light it. I have a $100 Davidoff that I won in a contest that I can’t bring myself to smoke even though I didn’t even pay for it. I have the same issue with HTF sticks too. Light em up!!!!

Nope you not the only one chase in vogue Cigars, and collecting Cigars.

Honestly I am not a collector, I do put some Cigars away for a special day. To put that statement out of maybe 800 Cigars I now have on hand today, only about 20 - 40 are in that "special category", of for special days. The other will get smoked in some sort of order, with no rhyme or reasons.

When I am down to maybe 1/2 of what I have on hand I will buy a few more. From my list of stuff I have personally rated high in my mind, and not buy any more of the Cigars that I call only so so.

This is a hobby, passion, or lifestyle, or what ever you wish to call it. Do your thing by rule you are comfortable with, not what someone who is not picking up your Cigar tab tell you how to do it.

I’m the same way. I think about how hard it was to find x cigar then think about it I Smoke it I’ll no longer have X HTF cigar forgetting the point of owning cigars is to smoke cigars.

I recently(the past 8 months) got back into smoking cigars after a 10 year hiatus.
I’m from the camp of they’re all fair game, I have a few special occasion cigars resting, but outside that, I have about 130 sticks at the moment.
