  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

So I picked up the 601 Blue label because so many folks are saying it is a great stick...man I had no idea. Pre-lite draw was a tab loose but that's ok. Construction was beautiful smooth and leathery with a big ring gauge. Fire it up and instand spice and a bunch of it...at the same time it is very sweet like a deep black cherry nectar sweetness....it wedges a bit on me but bounces right back...half way through and I am buzzing big time...this dude is very strong...I gotta sit is down for a sec and sip some rum to compose myself...I finish it off and damn was it good...this stick hit me hard! I think I have found one of my new favorites from the Pepin line! If you like the JJ maduro (which was my favorite Pepin stick) please do yourself a favor and try the 601 Blue label...it kicks the JJ maduros azz! :stretchgr

Alright, Eric, now I'm going to have to finish up my tour of the 601 line and smoke a Blue!! Nice little review, bro, that "sweetness" thing really appeals to me, and Pepin seems to know know how to do it right!

I know this nectar you speak of. I just think of it like a dark chocolate covered cherry in smoke form. Black cherry smoke......mmmmmmmm. Gonna get one soon. Loving the 601s. I think Red is my fav as of late but I love them all. There is one for ever Pepin lover's Palette.

Just to clarify the different blends within the 601 line....

Introduced in August 2006, 601 is a brand of hand-made premium cigar owned by EO Brands/United Tobacco. The brand was created by José "Pepin" Garcia as well as the co-founders of United Tobacco Erik Espinosa & Eddie Ortega. All 601 cigars are manufactured at the Tabacalera Cubanafactory in the Estelí, Nicaragua.

Don Pepin has quite a reputation for making great cigars and his line of 601s are no disappointment. The line carries a series of cigars with different wrappers and blends and each is given a color to represent the wrapper and flavors you might taste. The Connecticut Black has an Ecuadorian wrapper with mild, yet complex flavors. The Habano Red has a beautiful rosado wrapper that is easily mistaken for a maduro and has notes of spices and leather. The Habano Oscuro Green has the most powerful flavors of any 601 line to date and boasts earthy and spiciness throughout. Lastly, the Maduro BP Blue line are mildly box-pressed cigars with a dark, oily Habano wrapper that will knock your socks off! The Maduro BP blue is a strong cigar with sweet notes and a sweet aroma. No matter which you choose, the quality of these cigars is unmatched and each has its own flavors and aromas - all of which you are sure to enjoy.

The Blue and Green are my favorites. The 601 is an awesome line. CI is running a sampler deal where you can get 1 of each of the 601's and a Cubao with another 5er (I am going to get the DPG sampler with it) for $35. I would post the link but the site is down. For those looking to try them here is a good chance.
