I will be smoking and drinking at Jimmy's Bar in Frankfurt Germany on 8/22/2014. Any brother's in Germany wanna meet up? Any travel tips from anyone who has been to Frankfurt?

Frankfurt is a great town....

But bring your own sticks... prices are seriously HIGH in Germany by comparison with what you can purchase stuff for in places like Dubai, Turkey, etc..

If you have some time to play tourist, get outside of Frankfurt.. hop a train to Wiesbaden (suburb on the outskirts of Frankfurt.. about a 20 minute train ride from the center of the city IIRC).. and check out the hot springs/spa (one of the oldest in Europe I believe..)..

There are lots of museums, and some decent old archetecture (old cathedrals, etc..) around Frankfurt if thats your sort of thing.. but its not really a very touristy city..

If you have a day free.. consider hoping the train to Strasbourg, France.. its about a 2 hour ride.. but WELL WORTH IT... Great town.. awesome food/restaurants.. great old gothic structures everywhere.. etc...

If you havent flown into Frankfurt before.. its a HUGE airport.. one of the largest, and busiest in Europe.. but, like all things German, its extremely efficient.. and very easy to navigate.. the United/Star Alliance lounge is one of the better Star Alliance lounges in Europe (IMO).. and if youre looking for a place to crash, there is a decent Sheraton inside the airport to grab a room at (although a little expensive)..

8/22 is my only free day. I am meeting a buddy from Switzerland in Frankfurt on 8/23. We are going to hit up the taverns in Sachsenhausen during the day and then one of the upscale Bar/Patio called Roomers Bar Saturday night along with a high end French restaurant my buddy has selected.

On Sunday I leave for Bellheim for business + a full itinerary of events and dinners for a week. No free time in Bellheim.

I did score an executive suite at a 4 star hotel on Travelocity for $225 per night at a top Frankfurt hotel. This room in the states would be $800 per night easy.

Wiesbaden looks like a consideration for 8/22. Thanks for the tip. Strasbourg, France also looks amazing. Which would you recommend for a one day trip?

If youve got a full day at your disposal... seriously think about Strasbourg.. its 2 hours by train there.. 2 hours by train to get back (the train ride is enjoyable as well.. nice view of the countryside once you get out of Frankfurt).. plenty of time to see most of the "sites" in the city and make it back to the train station that evening to catch the ride back to the hotel in Frankfurt.. The French in Strasbourg are nothing at all like the Parisians that give the rest of the French such a bad reputation (although, to be honest I have never found the Parisians to be as inhospitable as their reputation makes them seem to be..).. the people in Strasbourg are very welcoming, friendly, etc.. love for you to come into their shops, check out their attractions, etc..

Ive been there twice.. both times on "business" but found a couple of hours on each trip to just go wander around the city and check a few things out... I really enjoyed it...

another consideration is Prague.. its much further away... but there is an afternoon train that leaves about 430 or 5PM IIRC... that would allow you to spend the business day in Frankfurt and then leave for the Czech Republic late that afternoon.. check into a hotel there late that night.. then get up in the morning and check out that city.. Prague has a couple of excellent pipe/cigar shops (Baker Street is great!).. and Prague is one of the best cities in all of Europe to visit on a short schedule IMO (you can see almost everything in a day)... then you catch the evening train back to Frankfurt.. and check into the hotel late that night (only gone for 24 hours total)..

If youre into cars.. the Mercedes Museum in Stuttgart is pretty incredible.. and is only an hour train ride away from Frankfurt... not a whole lot else to do in Stuttgart that I have found.. but, Ive got a very good friend that lives there that I could link you up with if you would like some more information on the area.. I was just in Stuttgart a few months ago and did have a good time just dropping in on local restaurants, etc.. there are certainly worse places you could spend an afternoon.. and of the three options mentioned in this post its the closest, easiest, and cheapest to get to...

If you want a cigar experience, head up to Cologne and Dusseldorf as there are 2 great LCDH shops/lounges within 15-20 miles of each other... I'm assuming there's an easy train to get there, but I have no idea if the shops are close to any public transportation.
