I got a free Xikar Inpress lighter with a 10-pack of Obsidians & I drained it & filled it with Xikar's own butane & it would barely spark. I sent it back & they sent me back a new one. This one had the same problem. I saw on their website now that that one isn't even being sold anymore, is that because of the problems its been having? I was expecting something to light perfectly so that I don't have to use my Bic anymore (I'm a semi-new smoker).

BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE
Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Purge the shit out of it again (no "hissing" at all) & try a different brand of butane.
Not had many problems with Xikar; make sure you are purging all the air before filling, and then wait a good 20min before sparking to let the butane come up to temp. Also, check the flame adjustment. I've had lighters where the adjustment had to be fairly high for it to catch.
If no luck still, I might send it back again with a short letter and ask for a comparable replacement; Xikar in general is good people.

did you check to make sure that the ignitor is actually grounding properly?
