With the exception of the #77 or "Shark", all Anejo cigars names are derived from the ring gauge of the cigar. Anejo's were originally released in June 2000 and the tobacco is cured in Cognac barrels.

The Ashton VSG was released in 1999. Blended by Carlito Fuente to be a strong rich cigar for the person who wants "a kick-in-the-derriere cigar." All VSG's are aged six months after rolling before leaving the factory.

Sold only with the 2008 "Fuente Story" humidors, 96 cigars (48 natural, 48 sun grown) per humidor, 96 humidors ever made, the price of these cigars includes the "humidor tax," since in order to purchase the cigars, you have to purchase the humidor as well. These cigars were originally created to commemorate Fuente's 90th anniversary in 2002, but the release was delayed for various packaging and release considerations.

Estimating a value of approximately $1,800 to the humidor, that values the cigars at approximately $60.00 each, depending on the vitola/wrapper.

Note that these two cigars are not the same vitola; the Natural cigar is 1/8" longer than the Sun Grown cigar, and it has a slightly larger ring gauge. This suggests that these cigars were not rolled at the same time, and in addition to having different wrappers, they may be different blends.

It has been said by Andrew Welch who is an authority on Fuente products, that the 48 Sun Grown Don Arturo Gran AniverXario cigars are in fact Don Arturo Destino al Siglo "13" cigars, the long rumored Fuente 90th anniversary cigars.

DON CARLOS EDICION DE ANIVERSARIO

Originally released in 2006 in special Prometheus humidors that contained 90 cigars total, 30 of each vitola. Then re-released in 2008 in boxes of 9 total, 3 of each vitola with a MSRP of $299. The later release contains identical cigars to the original 2006 release and were rolled at the same time.
These cigars are not just Don Carlos cigars with a different wrapper; they consist of a distinct blend that was created by Carlos Fuente Jr. to honor the 30th anniversary of his father's creation of the Don Carlos line of cigars.

The Hemingway maduro line is a special bi-yearly release (Father's Day and Christmas) that uses a Connecticut broadleaf maduro wrapper. Although typically the the Best Seller and Short Story are not made in the maduro, the addition of the BTL or Between The Lines is now included in this line. The BTL is a combination of the Cameroon and Connecticut broadleaf maduro wrapped in a barber pole style.

Cuban hybrid seed planted in 1992 ("seeds of hope") yielded the first Dominican puro when the Fuente Fuente Opus X cigars debuted for sale in late 1995, and more widely in 1996. The original name for these cigars was "Project X from Planet 9" which is what they were known as inside of Fuente before the name "Opus X" had been decided upon. They were not sold west of the Mississippi river until the late 1990's.

Although "1992" appears on each box of Opus X cigars that are sold, it does not refer to when the cigars were rolled. Rather, it refers to when the first "seeds of hope" were planted. The first Opus X cigars released to the public became available in last 1995 in very small quantities.

All Opus X cigars use 100% Dominican tobacco that is cured in rum barrels for a few months before being rolled into cigars. The cigars are then aged for a year or so before they are color sorted, boxed, and shipped to customers. Even prior to rolling, the tobacco is aged: current 2006 production Opus (which will be on sale in 2007) are made up of tobacco predominantly from the 1999 crop.

The "Opus X blend" of tobacco which, in addition to the trademark Opus X Rosado wrapper, constitutes an Opus X cigar is a blend of 5 distinct types of tobacco rolled together. Opus X tobacco is fermented, then aged, then fermented a second time, in addition to a number of other techniques, in order to bring out its trademark flavor.

"Forbidden X" is a broad moniker that applies to non-regular release Opus X cigars; the blend of various Forbidden X cigars may be different. Fuente has also created a new Forbidden X band used on some non-regular production cigars.

All of the Forbidden X-banded cigars shown here (except for the "Cigar in the Bottle cigar") are identical to their Opus X-banded brothers in terms of wrapper, blend, etc. for each given vitola.
