I had some time at work the other day, so I took along a Fuente Queen B, my first. (Thanks Bob) I went into this smoke a tad skeptical because I had previously been very underwhelmed by the King B.
Surveying the smoke, I was pleased. A pretty torpedo, dark and slightly oily. Very soft box press. For what it's worth, one of the sides was a little soft and the smoke tended to favor that side creating a slight burn issue, but nothing outrageous.
I snipped it and lit her up with my trusty (free) Colibri lighter and off I went. The dominant flavor throughout the smoke was of a sweet leather. Sometimes it was in the foreground, sometimes in the background, but always there. As with almost every Fuente I've smoked, there's this fermented sweet tobacco taste also that seems to be more pronounced in Fuentes than any other brand.
The 1st 3rd began with spice and maybe a touch of white pepper. It soon settled into that sweet leathery flavor with some cedar coming in and out in small doses throughout. Pretty tasty.
As the 1st third drew to a close and the second beginning, the spice completely left and the leathery taste became suddenly overpowered by a sweetness that brought me back to the county fair and caramel apples. It was delightful and lasted about 7 or 8 puffs. Delicious! One of the most pleasant sweet notes I've had in a cigar. As quickly as it had entered, it made it's exit and brought me back to the leathery, fermented tobacco notes that dominated this stick.
The 3rd third began with more of the same. Leathery sweet tobacco notes. As it progressed, a woody core came into the mix and a touch of spice. I nubbed it happily and am very glad I tried this smoke. I really liked it and will probably try to get a couple more in the future. Sorry, no pics since I didn't have my camera at work. Thanks for reading my review.
