  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Eek! I know, I know. Most of you cooking pros wouldn't touch such an appliance, but I think it might be a good addition for my college apartment.

Have any of you had experience with the George Foreman grills? If so, which model(s)?

I have a bunch of Target gift cards to burn, and I'd like to order one from them... if it seems to be a worthy purchase.

Thanks guys!

I have been a professional cook for years now and I use my George more than my oven at home. Being a college kid they make quesadillas, burgers, and grilled cheeses, and tons of other stuff super easily. They are all pretty much the same, just make sure not to get one of the tiny tiny ones. The one I like fits a tortilla perfectly.

Cant go wrong with any of the george foreman grills. I've always just stuck with the basic grill champ models small to the large. Ive used them for everything from grilled cheese to pork chops. The one tip and best advice is just wipe it down after your finished for the easist clean up.

Get it, they are great! But I also recommend getting the model that you can remove the plates and clean them in the sink or dishwasher.

+1 on the removable plates. I love mine, but I curse putting the whole thing in the sink and trying to clean it.

Dude. Buy one.

I shared an apartment with 4 other guys in college. That machine never got cold! We cooked EVERYTHING on it. How great is it to throw a piece of frozen chicken breast on it, walk away, then come back 15 minutes later to a juicy meal? Fantastic. That being said, I wouldn't buy one post-college but that's just because I have access to my own kitchen.

+1 to one w/ removable plates

Skip the Foreman and get a panini maker... Yes you can still cook stuff like a foreman.

We have the cuisinart and it's even got a drip tray like the foreman.

I started with a Foreman Grill but have had my Cuisinart Grill/Panini Maker the last three years and love it! Not that much more than a large Foreman Grill.

+1 to this. We have a Breville Panini maker and it's great. Plates don't come off, but all you need is a few wet paper towels or dish rag when you're done cooking to clean it (while it's hot). Takes seconds to clean.

Personally I'd go with a standard flat griddle ... it'll take a few min longer to make a grilled sandwich or a piece of chicken but it's super easy to clean and you can also make pancakes on it. :)

Of the two options discussed in this thread I'd go with the panini maker ... although we did have a Foreman grill and it worked just fine.

I have one of these and my wife and I love it. Removable plates and anything else you could want. Granted it might be a bit more than a standard George.
