  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

There's probably a lot of guys here that can help you more than me, but it sounds like your blocking the ball at impact(if it's not slicing). Meaning your club isn't square at impact. I'd first check to make sure the clubface is square at address. If it is and the problem continues, try to close the clubface just a hair at address and/or try moving the ball a little forward in your stance. Remember that golf is a game of millimeters, so be patient and keep practicing.

CATeacher is correct. Ensure the ball is lined up correctly as well at address...should be off the left heel. If needed you can always advance your left foot about 6 inches forward to help with a good draw. As long as you are not swinging the club inside out this should correct any slice or fade.

Make sure you are releasing the club through the ball.

Anyone who wants to improve their game should read this book: "Five Lessons: The Modern Fundamentals of Golf" by Ben Hogan

You will be surprised what you don't know.

You can pick up a cheap used copy on Amazon

The simplest fix in the world if you pay attention.

Your issue is that you are coming over the top. Defined means when your club is meeting the ball, the head of the club is traveling from outside of the ball (away from you) towards the inside (close to you). You need to have the club aproach the ball from the inside of the swing plane to eliiminate your issue.

That being said,

Try this: When your at the range, tuck your golf towel under your right armpit. What you are attempting to do is keep your right elbow tight to your body. By doing that you are automatically creating the inside swing plane you need to eliminate your slice.

Another hint, keep your eye on the inside 1/4 of the back of the ball. This will help also.

But that's just me.

I had the same issue and the pro looked at my grip. He had me roll my left hand over the top of the club more, creating a "stronger" grip (not in the sense of how hard you sqeeze.) I had corrected this originally by setting up with a closed face. You could also ask the question at

www.thehackersparadise.com

It is a golf forum very similar to the one we have here. Craig Mac is one of the mods over there.
