  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I am taking the wife down to The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, CA later in the month. I am going to play a couple rounds of golf while I am there. One round on Friday, Feb 24 and one round on Saturday, Feb 25, if any one of the O.C. brothers want to join me you are welcome. The price is $270.00 per person including cart and forecaddy (caddy's tip is not included). I have not played either course, but I hear they are both very nice! Let me know if anyone is interested.

Have fun man... great looking course. I never played, but walked the course back when the Diners Club tourney played there. I got to watch Jack Nicklaus win a tourney with only a handful of people there and I literally got to walk onto the 18th green after he played to meet him and get pics.

I am looking forward to it. I am going to play both courses, the north and the south. Even the rooms are awesome here. We have a bungalow that overlooks both the golf course and an ocean. It's the wife's B-Day so I went all out.

Dayyyyum! Balla!

I wish my wife would let me play golf for her birthday. Lucky bastid :)
My wife is a workoutaholic. She spends 3 hours every day in the gym. She even works out on Christmas. It buys me time to get some golf in. Plus, after her workout, I got her a spa treatment. Massage, facial, the works. Believe it or not, her day in the spa costs more than I will be spending on golf for both days. I cannot believe the prices they charge for spa treatments. I told her we should open up a day spa somewhere in the Hills of Beverly.

Isn't about time you got back down here to see your Dad? Let play some golf.

Damn, 3 hours a day is a lot. That does work out nicely for you then. I know what you mean about spa though. I took the wife for a massage at Pebble for our anniversary last year and almost cried when I realized I could have damn near played Pebble for the amount of a massage.

My dad lives in Fresno. He just decided to go down south and visit friends at the same time so we could play golf. I thought you were supposed to come up this way. I just got home from playing golf in Vegas :)

Oh BTW Bill. You are a Gaints fan. Matt Yoakum lives by me. He has become one of my weekly golf buddies. Well that was until he just left for spring training last week. That dude can smack a golf ball!

Oh, that is right. I was thinking he lived down here.

I plan on getting up there this year. I will keep you posted.

Well I have a 10:30 tee time. I am out.

Smoking a 06' Tat Cohette after a fat steak, drinking a 30 year Macallan listening to Benny and the Jets after a great day of Golf staring at the Pacific. I shot a 87 with two triples and two birdies. I am very happy. I can't wait till tomorrow. Life is good! The wife is passed out though. I think she had a great day too! I think I will listen to Rocketman next. Elton John is working for the very tranquil mood. It was 80 degrees in Newport today. Did I say life is good!

So now that we are back from Pelican Hill, I thought I would let you know my thoughts. Bottom line, both Pelican Hill Golf Courses are beautiful. I felt the resort was too large and too expensive. I think if you want to play at Pelican Hill don't stay there. It is not worth the $900 per night. I will stay at the Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel next time. It is twice as nice and half the price. At Pelican Hill when you want to get around the resort you had to call for a car. Now it was a Cadillac SUV which was cool. It would to take you to the restaurants, the spa, the pool or to the golf course. But it was a pain in the butt.

Having a forecaddie was a treat. I never had a caddie before. Ours was great. He was working his way through college. He did an excellent job. He hustled the entire round. I was tied just watching him.

The resort sits above Crystal Cove, which is beautiful. Here are a few pictures. These were taken in the morning before the sun popped through the clouds.

We had a amazing time.
