  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Good cigarette lighter for around $30?

I'm looking for a reliable, single flame butane lighter to be used primarily for lighting cigarettes. Budget of around $30. I've looked online and there are so many brands and choices, but I have no idea of what is good quality and what isn't.

What would you guys recommend I look at?

Go to the introduction page and tell us a little about yourself.

Greetings my brother and welcome to the family!

:welcome:

But to answer your question, if you are "only" taking about cigarettes, I would go with a Zippo or maybe a Xikar. Xikar is also good for cigars, but not a Zippo.

What about an Xikar Genesis? They seem nice and I saw a pretty good review of one. It has a large metal flame adjustment dial and a slim fuel gauge, and it supposed to be very sturdy feeling. And it's $33. Thoughts? I know I could go with a cheap bic, but I love the butane lighters and find them very cool, and I don't mind spending a bit to get a nice-ish one.

If you are going to use this to light cigarettes, I would just go with a cheap Ronson. Or a bic. Honestly, and not to sound condescending, with cigarettes, it doesn't really matter much.

If it's style you are looking for, then that's going to cost alot more money.

I have had my Ronson for over 2 years and its cruising strong! Love them!

If it's style you want, I hear Davidoff is tough to beat.

My all time favorites are the ST Dupont lighters. Now we are talking.

*I just seen the $30 price range. Get a Ronson, they look decent and work great. Put the other $25 into a pair of good cigars.

jumping on the band wagon...got a Ronson that is beat to crap from opening beer bottles...but works like a champ! The only lighter I have had last longer than a few weeks. But they also looked good (if u don't use it to open beer bottles) Stick with that and spend the other $27 to try out a couple nice cigars!

I seriously considered a Ronson guys, but I've already ordered a Xikar Genesis :) I know it may be overkill for cigarettes but as I've already said, part of it is I just like nice butane lighters because they are so darn cool! It's got a lifetime warranty so I am covered, and I will only be using quintuple refined butane fuel so hopefully it will serve me for many years to come!

You know what would go good with your lighter? Some free cigars from Twenty5...someone please reply to his thread...this is a very nice gesture and no one is biting! I cannot believe they have lasted this long:)
