  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

This is my 1st "official review" so please go easy on me...

This cigar was gifted to me by my boss's boss when I was nominated for CFHLA's 2008 Outstanding Culinary Employee of the year...He is not a cigar smoker...so he was guided by the sales dude at Corona Cigar.

The cigar has been resting for over 3 months and I thought it was time to puff'em on down.

Appearence: 7/10
The stick looked very veiny, tight rolled yet a little spungy towards the rear.
Very nice color, you could see some imperfections in the hue of the wrapper. The ring gauge and length comlimented each other very well. Overall very well constructed

Draw: 8/10
Upon lighting the cigar, I noticed that the stick lit up easily...I have noticed in the past with larger gauge (52 & up) it takes a little patience to get a good light. The draw was smooth and easy, with each puff I got plenty of smoke. Towards the last 3/4 of the stogie, the draw became slightly warmer than I wold have liked it, so it was not a "nub'er."

Burn/Ash: 8/10
The ash was very white, yet slightly grey towards the mid point. The ash held very well, and I believe that once the ash fell, that is whe the draw began to warm up. the cigar burnt very evenly and the burn point was prodominent.

Flavor: 9/10
This cigar IMO was very complex. At first I got notes of cedar and saw dust, however with each puff, I felt it turn into a more floral/earthy creature. At (almost exaclty) the mid point, I began to get this chewy sensation from the cigar, I tasted a blend of trailmix and dried fruit (mango/apricot/raisin.) I was pleasently surprised with this cigar.

Overall: 32/40

I would definately recomend this cigar to anyone. I havent had much experience with Graycliff, other than the 1666 maduro line, so I was a very happy at my 1st go around.

Any FOG's besides me that still think "gift" is a noun and not a verb?

More important, Dave, congrats on being nominated for the award. What is CFHLA? Did you have to prepare a meal to qualify?

Great review Dave!

Graycliff has some very good cigars IMO. The 1666 is good, but probably the least of them all. They tend to be over-priced because of Bahama production, but you can get pretty good deals from time to time if you're watching for em...

I just saw that Atlantic has fivers of Grand-Cru Salamone's for $60! I wish I had known that two weeks ago...

Wouldn't you like to know?
I was also pleasantly suprised by graycliff as had stayed away from them thinking that they were too pricey, and unfortunately to say but usual poor shoeing in CA. I am glad I only little attention to their rankings now. Really quite good cigars and by Canadian standards not that pricey

Nice review, thanks. I have a couple of 1666's that I'm waiting on, too bad it's "the least of them all". Explains why the bid was so cheap!

Nice review. This is my first post to BOTL.
I am a particular fan of this cigar and find it Cuban like and homogenous.
