Never been BoM
This is my 1st "official review" so please go easy on me...
This cigar was gifted to me by my boss's boss when I was nominated for CFHLA's 2008 Outstanding Culinary Employee of the year...He is not a cigar smoker...so he was guided by the sales dude at Corona Cigar.
The cigar has been resting for over 3 months and I thought it was time to puff'em on down.
Appearence: 7/10
The stick looked very veiny, tight rolled yet a little spungy towards the rear.
Very nice color, you could see some imperfections in the hue of the wrapper. The ring gauge and length comlimented each other very well. Overall very well constructed
Draw: 8/10
Upon lighting the cigar, I noticed that the stick lit up easily...I have noticed in the past with larger gauge (52 & up) it takes a little patience to get a good light. The draw was smooth and easy, with each puff I got plenty of smoke. Towards the last 3/4 of the stogie, the draw became slightly warmer than I wold have liked it, so it was not a "nub'er."
Burn/Ash: 8/10
The ash was very white, yet slightly grey towards the mid point. The ash held very well, and I believe that once the ash fell, that is whe the draw began to warm up. the cigar burnt very evenly and the burn point was prodominent.
Flavor: 9/10
This cigar IMO was very complex. At first I got notes of cedar and saw dust, however with each puff, I felt it turn into a more floral/earthy creature. At (almost exaclty) the mid point, I began to get this chewy sensation from the cigar, I tasted a blend of trailmix and dried fruit (mango/apricot/raisin.) I was pleasently surprised with this cigar.
Overall: 32/40
I would definately recomend this cigar to anyone. I havent had much experience with Graycliff, other than the 1666 maduro line, so I was a very happy at my 1st go around.
