  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I definitely enjoy a meaty, complex, thought provoking cigar but I also enjoy what I get out of mild sticks as well and I find the more into this hobby I get the more I actually enjoy mild sticks. Might be that I know more of what to look for or it could be the nature of heavier sticks trying to do too much some times.

With that, I was coming off a 'meh' experience with my last smoke (Java Maduro) and wanted to make sure I nailed the standard aspects of a good cigar without bypassing those (leather, tobacco, cedar, etc) for the farther reaching aspirations some sticks have. So for me that meant I chose mild for my evening smoke.

My go to mild cigar has always been the Casa Torano ever since I had my first one but the G2 has always been on my list to try and I picked up a 5er a few weeks back so it was called up.

Construction on this thing is great with a smooth as silk wrapper with minimal veins. Pre light has great aroma on par with what would be expected of a mild stick. A little hay, a touch of leather but light on the cedar.

Lit it up and immediately knew I chose well for the night as the profile went right into a classic mild with leather, hay and mild tobacco. I find that mild cigars (well, good mild cigars) really perk up around the middle of the stick. The G2 was no exception as it got very aromatic at the halfway point. I have trouble really nailing the components the first time around so I wont get too specific but woody, nutty and almost floral came through. Not in a punch you in the face way but in a way that has you almost sniffing the smoke off the foot.

All in all this is a great mild stick (for me) that checked all the boxes I was after. I will definitely be on the lookout to pick this one up in a slightly larger vitola to try and get more time with it once it opens up.
