  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I'm not sure how many will read this one based solely on the title, but if anyone has an interest here it is.

Gurka Evil Toro

Construction/Appearance-Medium brown and very uniform color. It's very firm and a strong looking and feeling cigar.

Burn/Draw- It has a very even burn and draw.

Flavor/Aroma-

Initial lighting-strong coffee with some off flavors bitter tart.

1/2- It has some licorice for a bit, then has some lighter coffee notes and a lot of sweetness, it's getting boring.

2/2- The flavors haven't changed apart from the sweetness transitions to a caramel flavor.

Burn time-1 hr. 10 min.

Overall-8.0/10 It didn't taste 'bad', but it had no bad qualities either.

good to see a gurkha review. I know a lot of people don't care for them. the ones i've had weren't bad just can never see me paying retail for them. may have to check this one out if i find it at a good price.

Nice review. I've never had one but will look into it. I'm with GoingPostal on the retail thing. Why pay more if it's not on your A list already. Hell, why pay retail if you can avoid it?:sadpace:

Great review!

These are written up as being real power-houses, yet every review I've read has said that they're actually closer to a regular old medium-to-full body, and that flavour-wise they leave much to be desired.

Huge band, too!

Thanks Brandon (and everyone) for the complement, your description is exactly the way I felt. But I do love trying cigars new to me.

I purchased a box of these not too long ago. The flavor all around was OK at best but nothing really to right home about. Not really an exciting smoke. I wish the flavors could be more pronounced throughout the smoke but I keep waiting for something to happen and nothing does.
