  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Gurkha Class Regent Nepalese Warrior Cigar Review

The Nepalese Warrior is the Gurkha Class Regent with a Cameroon Wrapper. Torano and K. Hansotia combined their efforts in the production of this cigar, attempting to improve a top notch cigar. People claim this cigar is better than the Opus X and some of today’s top Cubans. Well I’m ready to see if this cigar lives up to the hype.
The construction of the cigar beautiful without any obvious flaws in the construction. The draw was fantastic and let off a nice amount of smoke once I got it lit. The burn was off for a couple of inches but evened out after a few minutes. The cigar has some toasty flavors, with leathery notes combined with the sweet spicy flavor added by the Cameroon Wrapper.
Does it beat the Opus X and Cuban Cigars? I’m not a huge Opus X fan I think the cigar has more strength than complexity so I’d take this over the Opus X. I’ve had some Cuban cigars though that are simply amazing once they’ve had some age on them and would not be knocked off by this cigar. The Gurkha Class Regent Nepalese Warrior is a great cigar and I’ll pick up a few to age if I can make them last that long. Rating 8.5 out of 10.

I love the class regents. I am surrounded by boxes in my lounge. I was disappointed in the Nepalese Warrior. Since I really like a cameroon wrapper, I got two dozen of these. Most I gave away. Just not my cup of tea

I just got some extra cash after I'm done buying a bunch of Toranos I may see if I got enough to purchase some of these. I'm going to focus on reviewing Torano cigars through May.

I just smoked one of these this week-end. It was really nice, with excellent flavor. I thought it was kind of coffee-tasting, but I have probably the least refined palate on the planet, so what do I know? Anyway, the taste was great, and I would definitely buy some (the one that I smoked was a gift) if the price were reasonable. The stick that I smoked was rolled a little too tightly, but I am assuming that was just a defect in that particular cigar.

Thanks for the review. I have had a few of these sitting in the humi for about a year. Maybe I will break one out tonight for Poker time.

I smoked one of these today on my ride to band practice, thanks to ArtOfDesign. I was really pleased and surprised overall. The construction seemed solid, and maybe its cheesy, but I really like the look of the cigar's label too.

The pre-light draw was good and gave some hint of liquor to me (whiskey, scotch? I dunno).

The first third for me was very smooth, and a bit earthy. It was burning a bit uneven, but I think this more due to my lighting it poorly more than anything else, but it was drawing nice so I let it go.

The second third really started bringing out a spicy taste that was neat to finally notice in a cigar. At this point part of the wrapper started to come apart a little bit, and was kind of a downer, but didn't really affect the stick itself.

The last third I unfortunately didn't even get to finish (cause I wanted to nub it at this point) because it was falling apart to the point it was distracting and I was having a hard time keeping it lit (but again, this may have been smokers error?), but I was getting even more spicier flavors at this point and was really enjoying it.

I'd say overall, this is an awesome cigar, and I think I just got unlucky with the construction this time as everything else I've read said it was solid. I'll be picking a couple up to let age.
