  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Haven't wrote a review in a while but heres my shot.

Brand, shape: Gurkha Marqueza, Perfecto (figurado).
Length, ring: 5.25, 56 in the center.
Time: 1 hour to an hour 15.
Beverage: Ice coffee.

Prior to lighting the stick I took a moment to admire the carefully crafted perfecto shape. Oily to the touch, feels good between the fingers. Time for the matches..

So for the 1/3 I was smoking the cigar had a great flavor. It reminded me of slow roasted nuts with hints of caramel around the corners, and a subtle coffee undertone. Between puffs, the ice coffee really helped to bring out the caramel flavor that coated my mouth. The smoke is fairly thick lofting through the breeze with a yellow hue. The aroma was reminiscent of smoked wood burning on a stove, it truely takes you to another place. The ash is still holding tight and is a chalky white gray mix.
Now before I knew it I'm in the 2/3, and I was awakened from my day dreaming slumber by a spicy kick. The finest pepper making my mouth tingle and my smile widen. I realize that I have now entered the medium-full bodied zone. Slowly after each burst of pepper there comes a smooth, toothy leather flavor. Between puffs the coffee helps to fully taste it. I'm in the middle of the cigar now, and the ash has dropped. To my surprise, the cigar is still smooth as elephant ivory.
Wishing that I wasn't this far along in my journey, I have reached the final 3/3. The peppery spice I've been enjoying has faded and the toothy leather is here to stay. I literally smoked this guy down to the nub.

I can't wait to revisit this cigar, what a pleasure it was to smoke it. Good thing I bought a box.

I've noticed that for some reason Gurkha perfectos do not have capped heads. I know it doesn't matter as I cut it off anyhow but always thought it to be odd.
