The BurgerMeister
the devil is a busy man.
i can hear the coast-to-coast groans... "eww.... Gurkha!" :barf:
for the most part, the Gurkhas i've had have been nothing more than average. the C-10 stands out as one that has a special something going on.
the C-10 has a nice wrapper. there is one minor blemish, but that's it. the flavors at the start are spicy, nutty, and grassy. the aroma is nutty and sweet. the draw is pleasantly tight... it offers just enough resistance and produces a generous amount of smoke per puff. the burn started out a little uneven (thanks to my sub-par lighting job), but it's evening out nicely as the cigar burns down.
spiciness has died down after the one-inch kick. flavors on the palate now are pepper and grass. the mouth feel is not thick, but the finish is long.
the ash fell off on its own after about 2". granted, i was being very careful, but it's a nice, tight ash.
halfway: the foremost flavors are nut and coffee, with the grassiness having moved to the longer finish. the burn is still good and even, and the draw is near perfect.
further along: the aroma is consistently very nice and sweet. the spiciness has come back to the flavor array, combining with the nuttiness and grassiness. there's also a hint of smoke and peat on the finish.
near the finish, and the whole flavor profile has become sweeter.
overall, this is a good cigar. not mind-blowing, but just a good smoke. the mix of spicy and sweet, nutty and grassy is pleasant. the added sweetness of the smoke seals the deal perfectly.
GRADES:
Appearance... B nice wrapper, nice foot. a few minor flaws.
Construction... A solid and consistent.
Flavor... B a nice complex mix of sweet, spicy, nutty, and grassy.
Burn B mostly even.
Draw... B pleasantly tight.
