  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Say you are smoking a nice habanos in a public place in the United States (well this applies to US citizens abroad too). Someone comes up and asks you what you are smoking. What do you say? Legally it is against the law for a US citizen to smoke any cuban, on US soil or not.

So do you make something up or tell them what it is?:smokingco

Most Cuban companies have N/C counterparts (though w/o affiliation). I just say "Bolivar" or "RyJ" & they're none the wiser. I must say, this very rarely happens, even at a local cigar bar.

I don't see that as a problem here in Indy. The bar I go to, Nicky Blaines, has 2 types of people:

A) People that are hanging out at Indianapolis' premier cigar bar doing the cigar bar thing.
B) People who really enjoy thier cigars at Indianapolis' premier cigar bar.

I've noticed that the people who bring in thier own cigars are smoking habanos...just like me.
Last time I was there a group of guys were sharing a c/p of Cohiba Corona Esp. didn't even make any moves to hide the box. A guy sitting in one of the couches was smoking a Partagas Lusi, and still another guy was sitting at the bar with a RyJ Romeo Tubo.

I think that it's all just relative to your state. If you live in one of those states that is already out to hang a cigar smoker then you might just want to exercise a bit more discretion.

I've never had this happen, but I'm sure I would be like "I'm smoking a Bolivar. . . " whatever. I doubt that I would tell someone that I didn't know that it was a habanos, but I really buy into the whole take the label off and don't show off your cigar kind of mentality. I'm cool with whatever you smoke, as long as you're cool with what I smoke, and if you like yours and I like mine, does it really matter what we're smoking?

my thinking is that if someone i know asks, im gonna tell them, and maybe even offer him/her one. if a complete stranger walks up and asks me, ill give them two responses.

1. a blunt rolled with some good dope from mexico. :hysterica
2. mind your own freakin' business!! :angerFU:

Same as you guys, just the brand and not much else. If they show an extreme interest of have cigar knowledge, then I might divulge it's origin if I feel comfortable with the situation as hand.

I always take the bands off when I'm in public. It depends on who asks. My friends know what I smoke, anyone else doesn't need to know the specifics.
I usually just say the marque, or It's just something I grabbed out of the humidor.

If one were to tell them the name of the habano and by some remote chance, they new it was a habano from the name, I highly doubt they would be anyone you would need to be worried about.
