Last summer I spent a week in a less than 4 star resort in Samana, DR.
The resort was near a small town by the name of Las Terranas. It was a rather wealthy area and had a cigar shop named Mundo Purro there were an elderly gentleman was rolling cigars.
I spoke to the owner, a Russian gentleman who moved to the DR from Cuba and set up shop. He described the cigars which are double corona size, as every day cigars. I paid 2000 dominican pesos for 50 cigars (they came in packs of 25)....some were fresh - still had hints of green in the outer wrap....
So, here's my review..... My first problem was going into the shop with my wife lol, basically i had to buy the $1US stogies. Some are good and some leave a less than desirable taste in your mouth. Some often leave you with what I can only describe as a "tobacco drunk" feeling.
All in all....i'm glad i bought Romeo and Juliette bullies from the duty free shop at the Samana Airport!
