On Episode 11 of The Cigar Alliance Podcast, I brought up the issue of manufacturer claims that are hard to believe. For instance, Ive heard several manufacturers claim that their new cigar line is actually a cigar that they have been making for themselves to smoke as a private blend for quite some time. Then, the story goes that after several visitors/friends tried the blend, they convinced the manufacturer to market it to the public because it is so good. In this case, I cant help but wonder why a manufacturer/blender wouldnt market the blend they like to smoke for themselves before they began marketing any of their other lines. In fact, the way I see it, its like saying, I didnt really like any of the blends weve been selling, so I had my own private blend made just for me...then I decided to sell it too!
Anyway, the question is: Are there any manufacturer claims/marketing ploys that you find very hard to believe?
Id also like to hear a defense for the example I cited. Ill discuss the responses on Episode 12, which comes out on January 24th.
