I am no rocket surgeon
Good looking cigar with two bands: the My Father, and the Le Bijoux 1922.
Le Bijoux is french for "the jewel" so from the name we expect the cigar to be special.
So the question is: Dog Rocket or Herf worthy? Who better than a dog to recognize dog rockets? Let's try it out.
The wrapper is an elegant chocolate brown, and the smell has a nice taffy sweetness.
Cutting with a double guillotine was straight and easy, leading to a tasty pre-draw of black pepper and brown sugar or taffy.
Lighting with cedar spill, the cigar grills easily and quickly. No trouble lighting this stogie.
First draw tasted a bit dry and bitter, with flavors of sweet almonds, ceder and hay. The predominant flavor of the first third was black pepper.
The second third demonstrated subtler spices, a little more brown sugar but also more coarse woody flavors.
Getting to the third third the pepper is still present but subtle, with predominantly ceder flavors. The ash is also less hard and the fire less intense than during the first two thirds.
The ash produced by this stick is hard and grey. The wrapper-to-ash line was very thin. Had to correct the burn a few minor times during the two last thirds with relighting only once in the last third.
The ambient odor is rather good with little spices and mainly wood. The draw was excellent trough the whole cigar with just enough resistance.
Pairs very well with an Irish beer and last about an hour.
