  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

i am using 1 of the Holts specials, and I have a few relatives and friends using them. Overall, they are working very well. I had 1 where the lid did not sit perfect on the base, which is really nothing new in an inexpensive humidor (or sometimes an expensive humidor). An easy fix was using the key to lock the lid down in place. I use remote hygros to test the performance. 1 humidor was seasoning a bit slow. It passed the dollar bill and woosh test, but there was still a very slight gap between the lid and base. I just used the lock, and it tightened up the gap, and it is sealing great now.

before I used the lock, the humidity was going up to about 72% while seasoning. Now its up to 78% by just using the lock.

Ron, couldn't you also get some veeeery thin weather stripping and put around the edge of the humidor lid to help with the seal?
