  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

University friends of mine did this; They got a hold of an old fridge, put a tap through the door and just threw in a keg of their choice of beer with a small c02 tank. Fairly economical solution but not very elegant.

If you wnt it quick, bed bath and beyond has a kegerator for 500 bucks. Not sure if this is the whole deal. I just saw it at the front door as we were looking for something else.

This! Did it for years and it is simplicity itself. You can get some nice tap handles from a lot of keg suppliers. Just keep your stuff clean! The taps and hose need to be cleaned on a regular basis to prevent contamination of the beer. Any welding supply shop can exchange or refill your CO2 tank.

I built one, but mine is for homebrew. Still the cheapest and best way is to build your own from a used fridge and a kit. kegconnection.com, has the best prices!
x2 This is the best way to go. If you don't want to make it you can get one of those $500 ready to go setups but they realistically have a $100-150 fridge, with a tower, tap, lines and a co2 bottle. Nothing special and I don't think it adds up to $500.

Get the fridge ready. and just buy the keg and the beer. you'll put a deposit down on the keg, but you'll get it back when you get your next keg.

I took an old fridge in the garage that I was not using for anything but to store frozen goods and soda and what not in.. Drilled a hole in the door wired up a tap put in a drip tray and BAM instant keg fridge.. I did not go with a co2 system because I was lazy and cheap at the time but it could be adapted without any problems.. Its looks ghetto but its cold beer..

A BOTL on another forum just put tap handles in his fridge. Ran two handles right through the door. Looked like a pretty simple and quick setup.
