So I am all the time plundering through thrift stores, antique shops, yard sales, etc., etc..
Well, one day I came across what I am guessing is an old aluminum candy dish. Dirty, pitted, and rough, but full of potential.
I knew right away I wanted to make a little ashtray out of it, and considering it was only $1.00, how could I resist?
So I get it home. Clean it up, sand it down a bit, and end up with this:
As I'm trying to decide on what to use to create a stirrup, I pull out my last Papas Fritas from it's tin, and light it up. BOOM... the logo on the Papas Fritas tin is perfect.
So after some cutting, a little bending, some hammering, and a bit of JB Weld, I attach it to the dish:
Little more sanding, some taping off, toss on a couple coats of Hammered Silver paint I had left over in the garage, and here is my $1 Antisocial Stinky Ashtray:
Not perfect, but perfect for me, so I am happy with it.
