Gifted this RyJ but after looking at the sloppiness and discoloration of the roll I'm thinking...……..
I'm not even sure the tube should be with this cigar
I read that RyJ is a bit suspect on their quality control but is this typical of their product, if it is their product.

The band looks good, the roll at the foot looks good, the tube looks good. Could be the cigar was just seriously neglected and dried out and distorted? But i bet its the real deal.

RyJ newbie so I have to ask, is it typical they have such large veins and whatever that is at the cap end?

this is the exception, not the rule.
and RyJ QC is no worse than any other.
Smoke it and you will know...……..

FWIW, this was my first Cuban cigar, back in the mid 80s.
Kermit green, a huge nasty vein down one side, excellent cigar.
The tobacco was different back then.

Well it didn't kill me, mild, toasted tobacco a bit of burn on lips and top of palate. Pleasant.
He's gifted me fakes before so I was kind of suspect about the RyJs. There again as long as my teeth don't fall out of my mouth I'll just appreciate the gift.

I don't know if it is real or fake. I acquired it from a source that I think is trustworthy, but I didn't get to see a box or any other proof, it was just handed to me. The construction seems good, and it smells heavenly. The bands seem good, though they are a little misaligned in the back. So, what say you?

If you had two, I'd say smoke it now, but it will be a lot better if you let it rest for at least a couple of weeks, unless the guy that you got it from already did that, then I'd smoke it.
