  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

This sounds crazy, but since some of the Habanos I get are not shipped with their original boxes I would like to make a cuban SLB of 25 to replicate the slow aging process I would get in a cab of 25 such as the mag 46's. Does anyone have any idea how to make one? What kind of wood would I use and what type of glue would I use in the box that would not impart a flavor on the cigars? Any help is much appreciated. thanks!

I recommend Mark as well (N2advnture)

His site (Cigarmony.com) is the best on the net, no joke. Plus, I know for a fact he spend HOURS researching the best methods for building the boxes that would not negatively impact the cigars within.

To answer your direct questions, Cedar plywood, with dovetail joints, sometimes held with tacks, sometimes with glue. All depends where the boxes were made & how old they are. They were solid plywood until 1995 (aprox).
We have yet to see if Plywood creates more of a sealed environment compared to solid wood, but my guess is it's a neglegable difference if any. Best bet if you're comparing your time to money ratio; GO WITH MARK.

Wise choice.

Thats gotta be easier than trying to build some yourself. unless you enjoy stuff like that. But that would cut into your cigar smoking time.:headroll:

Very wise move. You'll be quite happy with the boxes from Cigarmony. If you had asked mark also he'd probably have told you how difficult it was to make them and time consuming too.
