  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I first smoked this cigar at the Big Smoke in Las Vegas last Novemeber. I thoroughly enjoyed it but as I had smoked about six cigars at that point I did not realy give it justice. I bought a taster package yesterday with five cigars and selected the Toro Grande this morning with fresh taste buds. The cigar is beautiful with a light oily sheen common to its CC brother. This is wat probably drew me to the cigar in the first place. When I saw a guy smoking it I thought it was the CC version. The cap was a little ugly with a raggedty edge but the wrapper was smooth with a nice box press and no large veins. When I cut the cigar with my SAKI was not happy. The poor cap left a poor cut with loose edges. I cleaned it up as best possible with the cutter. The pre-light draw was free and easy with a basic tobbaco flavor. Toasted and lit. Lit again. Not much smoke for a cigar this size so I checked my light and touched it up. Now I got a nice voume of smoke. I smoke strong cigars so I would say the first third was smooth and mellow. Dfinitely a medium cigar for me. No strongly defining flavors jumped out. Little leather, maybe some coffee and toasted tobacco. A pleasant cigar. The second third added just a touch of sweetness. The ash held well and was grey salt and pepper. As I finished the cigar the strength increased slighly but never became strong by any means in my opinion. Now the smoke billowed, the draw still slighly loose with more coffee tastes.

I enjoyed this cigar. Nothing spectacular and if I had smoked it in the evening I might have been disappointed but in the morning after breakfast and coffee, a nice smoke. I have four more to try but will proably not be looking for a box.

I tried a few earlier this year...I thought they were alright, definitely smokable, and in the right situation a pleasing smoke. As long as you don't expect too much out of it, they're decent sticks.
