I've wanted to do a conversion on the wineador for a while, but could never get the humidity above 50%.
Then I had a genius idea that I borrowed from devices such as the Cigar Oasis/Hydra etc. Why not have a fan blowing the humidity from the reservoir that collects the condensation at the back of the unit? Well, I put one together and left it for 4 days and it's holding steady! Woohoo!
The below setup has the computer fan blowing downwards into the container. Unfortunately, it's on 24/7. Next is a timer that'll turn it on for x minutes and off x minutes. Might even put in a either a smaller fan for less CFM or a larger fan at low RPM with a speed controller.
The front container has only distilled water, but I think it's a problem as I'm finding the rear one is slowly filling with water and the front is depleting. Maybe there's too much water for evaporation. I'll try removing the front one and monitor how the humidity reacts.
I now need a Tweetador from .jacob!
Stuff used to get this working:
1x wine fridge
1x computer fan
1x AC adapter
4x cable ties
1x dodgey cabling
Only the humidor and tupperware contain cigars. Other boxes are just there for temp/humidity conditioning and ready to store stuff.
