  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

yeah, wine coolers come in two variations, compressor driven like your fridge, or thermoelectric which has no moving parts, and is damn quiet. It cools electronicly versus older compressor driven. Trust me you want thermoelectric.

I believe the electronic cooling is provided by what is called a peltier cooler.

Funny thing, I just happen to have a few of these things. They are about the size of a cpu and have a heatsink on each side with a couple of wires sticking out. Pretty neat really. Give it 12 volts, one side gets cold, the other side gets hot.

My plan was to make a beer cooler coaster out of one but now I'm thinking that I can modify an Igloo and build my own vino. Granted, I would need to figure out the something for the temp control to keep it consistent, but that shouldn't be too hard. Temp sensor, a couple of relays and I'm good to go.

Google search the peltier cooler once and just build your own vino.
