  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Building a humi. Want to place a digital hydrometer on the outside of the thing so I don't have to open it to get a reading. Any ideas?

Or maybe - one that's got a remote? That would be even better me thinks!

Anyone with any experience with one? I would really appreciate it! I would hate to drill a hole into the humi for something that doesn't work - you know? :).

Thanks guys!

There are a couple remote ones that have multiple sensors to place between areas of the humidor for more accurate readings. Amazon is flush with them, there are a few brothers that use them.

BUT, almost universally I have found the hygrometers that aren't made for humidors are anywhere from 5-10 point off on a good day. After you calibrate its not that big of an issue but it is annoying looking at a hyrogmeter thats reading 45% and having a mini freak-out till you remember that its off by 15 and you have to do math everytime you look at it :)

Look at Oregon Scientific, I've tested my wireless remotes several times over the years, they have always been no more than a percent off either way.

Thats the company; I knew there was one that had an accurate sensor reading. Thanks Kelly! was driving me nuts :argh:

I used one of the less accurate ambient weather versions but had one inside that was +\- 1% once I had them calibrated there wasn't much drift I'd just adjust the wireless ones periodically if they were more than 2% different which was rare every couple months I loved this because I could toss one in each of my tubs and have them all read from one screen but with bovedas and beads they were right on

Ties to your network so you can check while you are out of town. Anyone have such a thing?
I just ordered one as I travel for work most of the year. This way I can keep tabs on the wineador from the road and let the misses know when to add a spritz or two to the beads. Thanks for the idea KK33!! I'll let you know how it works when it arrives.
