  • BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I wonder can you smoke it ???

EDIT - And yes, ye can smoke it. Not sure I'd do it, though.

Gold is toxic when ingested. I'd not recommend smoking that...
Nah.

"Relax (if that's possible in the catering business). The gold you use is harmless. According to my sources, gold does not react with anything. It's unaffected by moisture, oxygen, or ordinary acids but is attacked by the halogens. Aqua regia (a mixture of nitric and hydrochloric acids that liberates chlorine) is so named for its ability to dissolve gold, the "king" of metals. If your stomach has aqua regia floating around in it, eating gold would be the least of your worries--the hole in your stomach lining would be a higher priority, I'm guessing. Gold has no nutritive value, fats or carbs, so the body does with it what it does with all other non-foods--passes it out as quickly as possible. (Insert optional golden toilet bowl joke here.) "

Gold is non-toxic and does not react to the body hence gold fillings etc. I suppose if you ate 12 gold bars you could die from constipation. But then if you eat enough of anything it can be bad for you.

Gold is bad...there is a disease specifically for gold poisoning...can't think of the name for it. That Goldslagers (sp?) stuff is HORRIBLE for you! The fillings in your teeth are a small % gold and don't brake off (hence you don't ingest any), so they aren't too harmful according to studies I've heard of, though many desists still won't use it anymore.

The reason gold is bad is not because it reacts with anything chemically in your body, it's because it "gums up the works" for lack of a better way to say it. Like other heavy metals (mercury, etc), gold doesn't belong in the body naturally and so the body doesn't know what to do with it--and like other heavy metals, they are often too large to be separated out and passed through the urine. It doesn't attack it, so it just sits there and gets "stuck" inside various cells causing obstructions, etc.

There's edible gold. Different from regular gold. To coat chocolates, for expensieve deserts,... Had a whole classin culinary school regarding that.

call me a skeptic, but the engineering side of me is screaming bulls$&*. At 875$/oz this "24 karat Gold" dipped cigar is only 39.95. Not to mention it couldn't be done... the melting point of gold (~1000 C) is much higher than the ignition temp of tobacco ~230 C. I'd wager its gold foiled and looks like crap... possibly gold spray painted :eyepoke:

Well aside from it probably being not real gold; would anyone really want to smoke it? I don't even think I'd except that if it was a gift.
